Pacific Association for Medical Equipment Services
PAMES is the Pacific Association for Medical Equipment Services. PAMES represents Home Medical Equipment (HME) and Respiratory Equipment providers in the states of Oregon and Washington. In 1996 we joined together for the purpose of strengthening our industry as professionals by promoting ethical behavior and sharing the benefits of education, information dissemination and problem solving regulatory issues on a local level. We provide that visible entry point to our industry and its leaders for Medicare, Medicaid and other agencies and insurers wishing to interact with us.
The 21st Century Cures Act was just passed in the House of Representatives by a landslide vote (392 to 26). This was a much larger bill that focused on many healthcare issues from Cancer Research to Mental Health Reform and many other items. Given our tremendous CRT bi-partisan support across congress, language was included in this bill to delay CRT accessory code cuts for another 6 months in order to enact a permanent fix in the 1st half of next year. Additionally, retroactive language was included for rural relief of DME products/services which will benefit us dating back to July 1st of this year.
This bill will now go to the Senate and our expectation is that it will pass. The White House has already issued a letter of support for this bill which is also great. We expect this will become law by Mid-December.
